Flower Food
For my project i chose to water plants with different liquids other than water. I wanted to do this project because i have always wanted to water plants with liquids other than water. I also thought it would be intresting to see what would happen to the plants
I. Hypothesis
I predict that it is possible to water plants with other liquids other than water. I also predict that some plants will die because of the type of stuff that is in the liquids.
II. Materials and Methods
For this project, i watered 6 plants with 6 diferent liquids. The liquids i used were water, milk, nail polish, vinegar, oil, and soda.
I watered these plants for 7 days. Each of the plants changed afetr watering them for the week. Some of the plants stayed the same because of what the liquid is made up of.
III. Results
After doing my project, the plants all changed. Some of the plants changed alot and some of them stayed the same. All the plants that were watered with the liquids that didnt have any acid, lipids,or alcohol in them all lived. The plant rather drooped very, very little or didnt droop at all. Those plants lived. All the plants that got watered with the the liquids that had alcohol, lipids,or acid in them all died and started to droop. Those are my results.
IV. Conclusion
I conclude that you can water plants with liquids other than water. But be sure to know what you r watering them with or else they may die and get all saggy and stuff.
V. Explanation
Plants need certain things that are good for them and help them grow. Lipids, alchohol, and acid are not good for them.
Each of these are found in the vinegar, oil, and the nail polish remover. The vinegar kills plants because the acidic content the vinegar contains lowers the the soils PH level so the plant can not get the nutrients it need to live. The nail polish killed the plant because it has something in it called isoprypol alcohol. Because it is an alcohol,it killed the plant. The reason the soda didn't kill the plant is because the soda i used was diet so since its diet, there was less sugar in the soda which causes plants to die. The milk didn't kill the plant because there are many different nutrients that are in the milk. The plant only took the nutrients that it needs and used them and left all the other nutrients that it doesn't need behind.
